Chapter 296: On her bed
Chapter 296: On her bed
When the beast husbands returned home and discovered the palace suddenly full of unfamiliar females, they were visibly surprised.
How had so many strange females appeared all at once?
After questioning Ridan, they finally learned that Rosen had brought them to show off Nina.
The sea-clan females were equally stunned when they saw Odian and the others. Nina’s beast husbands were astonishingly handsome too.
The moment Yina’s gaze landed on Idir, her heartbeat skipped. This male was far too beautiful.
When she noticed the absence of a bond mark on his forehead, delight immediately stirred in her chest.
No bond mark. Which meant... He wasn’t Nina’s beast husband.
The other females quickly lost interest in Nina’s bonded males. No matter how handsome they were, once they belonged to another female, they were no longer worth paying attention to.
However, they were rather interested in Setan and Yanai.
As for Lex... None of them bothered.
He and Nina already had the little princess together. In their eyes, that practically made him Nina’s male already.
Hoan’s eyes lit up when she spotted Dian. She hurried over excitedly. "Dian, you’re back!"
She had liked him for quite some time before this.
Dian immediately retreated several steps to maintain distance. "Don’t come any closer. I’m already a male with a female master now."
Then he quickly moved behind Nina and declared proudly, "I’m Nina’s beast husband."
Hoan blinked in surprise and turned toward Nina. "Nina, is he really your male?"
Nina nodded calmly. "He is."
Hoan sighed in disappointment. "Alright then. I’ll give up."
Still, she didn’t seem particularly heartbroken. It was only one male. If one was gone, she could always find another. There were plenty of males in the beast world.
She glanced at Dian again, unable to stop herself from thinking:
What kind of absurd luck did he have to become Nina’s male?
Honestly, she felt he didn’t quite deserve Nina.
The other females remained quiet, merely observing in secret. If any of those males belonged to Nina, they had no intention of getting involved.
. . .
The beast husbands soon brought Nina into a side hall and handed over the sea crystals they had gathered that day.
None of them looked particularly satisfied with the results.
"Nina, this is all we managed to collect today," Odian said with a slight frown.
In his opinion, it was far too little. Looks like tomorrow they would need to spend even longer searching.
Nina accepted the sea crystals and offered them a gentle smile. "It’s alright. This is already very good."
Odian lowered his voice. "Nina, starting tomorrow, we may return later. We want to gather as many as possible."
Nina naturally understood. They simply wanted to give her one more layer of protection before she entered the Abyss of Darkness.
"Alright," she said softly. "But don’t exhaust yourselves too much."
She took the beast husbands by the hand. "Come on. Let’s eat."
She led them back to the dining table.
. . .
For the sea-clan females, it was their first time tasting seafood prepared in so many unfamiliar ways.
Every dish felt fresh and delicious beyond imagination. They ate enthusiastically, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Rosen was especially delighted. As expected, Nina’s home had the best food.
None of her own beast husbands had managed to learn the true essence of Nina’s cooking.
During the meal, Yina secretly kept sneaking glances at Idir, internally debating whether she should try talking to him afterward.
But after dinner, in the blink of an eye, Idir had vanished.
Yina looked around carefully, searching one face after another, but he was nowhere to be found.
She sighed softly.
It didn’t matter. As long as he remained in Nina’s household, she would eventually find another chance.

Only after dinner did the females finally leave. They had already stayed an incredibly long time, so it was time to go.
Still, they fully intended to return in a few days to visit Nina again.
Rosen, however, did not leave with them.
Together with Lani, she stayed behind in the palace gardens, playing with the children.
Meanwhile, along the distant coastline beyond the palace grounds, Idir moved silently across the reefs, a blue crystal clutched in his hand as he searched tirelessly among the rocks.
He wanted to gather more sea crystals for Nina.
Deep beneath the ocean, along distant coastlines, Lex, Setan, and Yanai were all quietly working just as hard.
***
On the third day of collecting sea crystals, it happened to be Yanai’s turn to remain behind while most of the beast husbands went out.
Yanai immediately sought out Aron.
"Father, I’ve decided to make my move tonight. I need your help."
Tonight was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Aron instantly understood.
"Got it. Odian and the others are away, and only Mino is home. Father will find a way to keep him occupied."
Yanai nodded. "And if possible, stall the children too."
"Understood," Aron agreed readily.
The two discussed things briefly before splitting up to carry out their plans.
Yanai glanced toward Nina’s room, determination burning in his eyes. Tonight, he absolutely had to succeed in climbing into Nina’s bed.
Then he headed straight for the bathing room.
***
Meanwhile, Mino had already prepared Nina’s bathwater. He found her in the garden and said gently, "Nina, go bathe first. I’ll wash the children."
Looking at the little ones covered head-to-toe in dirt, he sighed with mild exasperation.
They had gone out and rolled around in mud again.
Nina glanced at the filthy children.
"Can you manage alone? Should I help you?"
Most of the others still hadn’t returned yet, and she worried Mino might not be able to handle all seven children by himself.
"It’s fine," Mino assured her. "You go bathe first. I can manage. If you wait any longer, the water will get cold."
Aron immediately chimed in, "Nina, just go. We can help Mino wash the children."
Ming quickly added, "Exactly. We’ll help him. You don’t need to tire yourself out."
Taru also volunteered his assistance.
As the children’s grandfathers, helping out was only natural.
Seeing everyone so eager to help, Nina no longer insisted.
"Then I’ll leave it to you."
Ming and the others happily scooped up the children.
"Nina, don’t be polite with us. We’re more than happy to help bathe them."
Bathing the children was such a joyful thing. Usually, they didn’t even get the opportunity.
Nina smiled helplessly. "Alright then. Have fun."
She returned to her room while Ming and the others cheerfully carried the children away toward the baths.
***
After returning to her chambers, Nina headed directly into the bathing room.
Meanwhile, Yanai had practically scrubbed himself clean eight hundred times over.
Only after confirming he was spotless did he quietly sneak toward Nina’s room.
The wolf-clan males standing guard nearby immediately looked away the moment they saw him.
Yanai stopped outside Nina’s door and took a deep breath before stepping inside. Truthfully, he was terrified Nina would become angry that he had snuck into her room without permission.
But he also couldn’t bear to let such a perfect opportunity slip away.
Those jealous beast husbands were constantly sabotaging him.
All he could do was desperately seize every chance he got.
The moment he entered, he heard the soft splashing of water from the bathing room.
The sound instantly made his ears burn hot, and he nearly lost the courage to move another step.
After forcing himself to calm down, he quickly changed into the "equipment" he had carefully prepared beforehand.
Then he turned toward the bed.
Clenching his fists tightly, he strode over with determination. Standing beside the bed, he glanced guiltily toward the bathing room before biting his lip.
Then... He dove straight beneath the blankets and wrapped himself up completely from head to toe.
As the sounds of water gradually faded from the bath chamber, his heartbeat thundered wildly in his chest.
Then came the soft sound of footsteps. Each step seemed to land directly against his racing heart.
The footsteps drew closer and closer.
Yanai clenched his hands so tightly his knuckles whitened, nearly unable to breathe from nervousness.
Nina emerged from the bathing room and walked toward the bed.
Then suddenly, she noticed a suspiciously large lump beneath her blankets.
She blinked in confusion.
...Who was on her bed?
