Chapter 330 - 150: The Third Prince’s Gift (Part 2)
Chapter 330 - 150: The Third Prince’s Gift (Part 2)
Just as Shen Bai said, the people from Xinhua Academy were all a bunch of lunatics. Nothing they said could be trusted.
The so-called choice seemed to offer two options, but it was actually fraught with uncertainty.
If Shen Bai chose the second option and they decided to go crazy, they wouldn’t honor the promises in the letter at all.
So, in Shen Bai’s eyes, what appeared to be a choice between two paths was really only one.
"Brother Ouyang, you should get some rest," Shen Bai said.
Ouyang Sword nodded. "You too, Brother Shen. Get some rest."
Since the decision had been made, Ouyang Sword didn’t object. After all, this was all about Shen Bai. He would support whatever decision Shen Bai made.
By the time they returned from the stall to their rented room, the sky had completely darkened.
The sun had set, and a full moon now hung high in the sky. Silvery moonlight spilled from the bright orb, illuminating the quiet room.
Shen Bai lit the oil lamp on the desk. He circulated the Qi in his body, and a ball of water began to flow above his palm, spiraling slowly around his hand.
He wasn’t grinding the Spirit Casting Technique at the moment. Even though the Spirit Casting Technique was a Level 4 Divine Power, its environmental requirements were simply too strict.
So, Shen Bai planned to first grind his Water Control Technique until its second qualitative transformation, after which he would search for news of aberrations.
After all, he was completely out of Evil Qi.
As the night deepened, Shen Bai became lost in the joy of the grind, unable to pull himself away.
As for the morning’s events, Shen Bai pushed them to the back of his mind. It wouldn’t be too late to deal with them when the internal exam began.
"Let’s keep going."
Shen Bai focused his mind and continued manipulating the flow of water.
...
Shen Bai, for his part, was quietly grinding his Water Control Technique.
Meanwhile, in a room far from Shen Bai’s location...
Three men were seated at a table, regarding each other in silence.
An oil lamp sat on the table, casting a dim, yellow glow that made one feel drowsy.
In the flickering light, shifting shadows danced around and illuminated the faces of the three men.
The man on the far left was dressed entirely in black, but he bore a fiery red, maple-leaf-shaped mark between his eyebrows. A closer look revealed a few strands of red mixed into his otherwise black hair.
The man on the right wore a green robe. His hands rested on the table, and if one were to look closely at his palms, they would see a wisp of black Qi swirling within them.
The man in the middle had a pair of Double Hooks strapped to his back. They glinted in the lamplight with a chilling gleam, like a viper flicking its tongue.
These three were none other than the three most anticipated members of the Observatory in the upcoming internal exam.
From left to right, they were Lv Bei, Xiang Quan, and Chen Yu.
Lv Bei, the Fire Priest, glanced at the other two. Seeing that they remained silent, he cleared his throat and broke the ice.
He gazed at the glowing oil lamp on the table and spoke slowly. "Shen Bai’s arrival this time has been a wake-up call for all of us at the Observatory. I saw that sword strike of his this morning from a distance."
At Lv Bei’s words, the expression of Xiang Quan, the man with the Double Hooks, turned grim.
"I wasn’t there," he said, "but the rumors I’ve heard are getting wild. As the story gets passed around, it’s been twisted beyond belief. They’re saying Shen Bai just breathed on them, and all six men fell to the ground convulsing."
The corner of Chen Yu’s mouth twitched. As the specialist in poison arts, he added, "The more the story spreads, the more fragmented it gets. It’s not credible. But you, Lv Bei, you saw it with your own eyes. Why don’t you describe what happened?"
The three of them had gathered for one reason and one reason only: Shen Bai, the man from Fenglin State.
Ever since Shen Bai made a name for himself in Fenglin State, his title, the Six Extremes Young Master, had begun to circulate among the members of the Observatory, reaching far beyond his home state.
And the phrase, "Overcoming Adversity and Attacking Upward," became his defining label, a testament to his ability to fight above his rank.
Few people actually believed it, however.
After all, the Meridian Realm was known as a great watershed. It was considered impossible for anyone to "Overcome Adversity and Attack Upward" against someone in that realm.
Most Jianghu People believed an alternate theory: that Liu Wufeng of the Fenglin State Observatory had intentionally started the rumor.
They believed he had fabricated the whole thing simply to build up Fenglin State’s prestige.
But whether they believed it or not, it was always best to be cautious. That was why the three of them had gathered.
When they had first arrived, they had even fought amongst themselves.
The result was a stalemate.
Lv Bei felt the other two men’s eyes on him. He nodded. "Alright, I’ll give you the gist of it. What Brother Xiang said about him just breathing on them is an exaggeration, but not by much."
Xiang Quan’s brow furrowed. "So you’re saying he didn’t just breathe on them, but it was almost that easy?"
Chen Yu’s face was a mask of disbelief. "Even I would have to put in some effort against those six. It would take me about half an incense stick’s worth of time to defeat them. How could it have been that simple for him?"
Lv Bei nodded with conviction. "I can tell you this for certain: he only made a single sword strike. The moment he did, it erupted into blood-red Sword Qi. A thousand terrifying streams of it pierced the limbs of all six men in an instant."
"If those six hadn’t also been in the Meridian Realm, they would have been corpses."
Upon reaching the Meridian Realm, all of a Cultivator’s abilities are enhanced, and their powers of Recovery are no exception.
