My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 401 - 375: The Morgans Fear Death the Least

Chapter 401 - 375: The Morgans Fear Death the Least

It was a golden autumn.

In the south of Niphoria, the scenery was still as vibrant as spring.

The mountain forests on both sides of the road were lush and verdant.

An ordinary sedan pulled off the straight highway and into a service station.

Elias Lennox glanced at the securely bound Serene in the back seat, then reached over and pulled the cloth gag from his mouth.

"Let me go! This is disrespectful to the Holy Mountain..."

Elias Lennox rolled his eyes and stuffed the gag back into his mouth.

"Dawn, what do you want to eat? The sushi here isn’t bad."

"Anything is fine..."

Then, Elias Lennox put on a hat and got out of the car.

A light drizzle was falling outside, and a refreshing breeze drifted in when the door opened.

Dawn Miles slowly rolled down the window, letting the fine rain and wind blow in.

"Master, Dad is calling. Should I connect it?"

Ditto Miles, who was in the back seat, suddenly began to flash with a green light as it spoke.

"Connect it..."

To Serene’s astonishment, the robot actually detached its own "head" and handed it to the girl in the front.

"Aurora, this place really is nice."

"You’ve arrived?"

Serene immediately started making muffled noises, trying to let Alvin Morgan on the other end hear him.

"What’s that sound?"

Dawn Miles glanced back at him and said lightly, "I tied someone up."

Alvin Morgan raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

"The Basic Supervisor from Arcadia."

Alvin Morgan, who had been walking, suddenly stopped. He stared at the girl on the screen for a moment, his expression abruptly darkening. "Was he trying to kill you?"

"Yeah."

"Show him the screen. I want to have a word with him."

Puzzled, Dawn Miles turned the screen toward Serene, just in time to hear Alvin Morgan’s ice-cold voice say, "Don’t forget the agreement the Holy Mountain and Veridia signed 100 years ago."

Serene’s gaze tightened. He let out a couple of muffled sounds, as if he had something to say.

Dawn Miles got up and took the cloth out of his mouth.

Immediately, Serene’s threatening voice was heard, "Morgan, are you trying to make an enemy of the Holy Mountain?"

Alvin Morgan let out a soft chuckle. "The agreement states that people from the Holy Mountain are not to interfere in the affairs of the Mundane World. Unless another world war breaks out."

Serene’s expression darkened. "This is a matter of the Martial World, not the Mundane World."

But Alvin Morgan continued, "The rules of the Martial World state that Regulators only manage Guardians. They are not permitted to interfere in the affairs of any nation’s martial world. You’ve overstepped your authority..."

"Morgan, in the Guardian’s absence, a Regulator has the right to eliminate any person or matter detrimental to the Martial World. I am under orders from a Maker of the Holy Mountain to eliminate all Chameleons, including her..."

"Veridia’s Guardian is still alive and well."

"Master Aerion is harboring her. I will report this to the Holy Mountain and have him judged, but she must die—"

As Serene spoke, his eyes filled with boundless killing intent, as if Dawn Miles were some heinous criminal.

The faint smile on Alvin Morgan’s face gradually vanished. "Ditto Miles, did you record what he just said?"

"You..." A bad premonition crept into Serene’s heart.

"Dad, Ditto Miles has recorded everything, including his appearance."

"Ditto Miles, send me the video. It’s a perfect opportunity to let the whole world hear the words of this Holy Mountain Regulator on indiscriminately killing the innocent."

Serene grew frantic. "You wouldn’t dare! The agreement forbids leaking any information about the people or affairs of the Martial World to the Mundane World..."

The intelligent-brain weaponry developed by the Morgan Family over a century ago had not only intimidated other countries, but also some of the powerful figures in the Holy Mountain.

Furthermore, the Venerable Martial God himself was unwilling to let people from the Martial World interfere too much in mundane affairs.

Thus, the Holy Mountain and the Mundane World reached an agreement back then.

The Holy Mountain would only concern itself with the people and affairs of the Martial World, no longer meddling in the governance of the mundane.

High Rank Martial Cultivators like Guardians and Regulators had to live in seclusion, never to reveal their identities unless a national war broke out.

And those families who knew of the Martial World had to keep the secrets of the Holy Mountain and the Martial World, or they would be eliminated.

As a result, the International Penitentiary and the International Martial Arts Bureau gradually became institutions jointly managed by both sides.

Although the Holy Mountain still retained the right to directly eliminate Martial Artists from the Martial World, this right was limited to those who had committed heinous crimes and caused severe consequences in the Mundane World.

Moreover, these eliminations had to be carried out by a Guardian. A Regulator had no authority to act, unless the country in question had no Guardian.

The Holy Mountain’s elimination mission had been going smoothly this time, but then Master Aerion had defied orders, refusing to act, which forced him to personally carry out the elimination.

He never expected that Master Aerion’s disciple would also be a Chameleon, and with Lord Kael Miles showing favoritism on the side, he had no choice but to give face. After she destroyed her own meridians, he had temporarily spared her life.

He could give face to Lord Kael Miles, but certainly not to this mundane person before him, who was no more than an ant.

"Morgan, if you dare leak a single thing about the Martial World, the Morgan Family will be annihilated!"

But on the screen, Alvin Morgan’s expression was utterly placid, completely unfazed by his threat.

"We Morgans are the last people to fear death. If you make the first move, our weapons will also be aimed at the Holy Mountain..."

"You... Fine... Very good..." Serene was now so enraged he wished he could storm the Morgan Family estate that very instant and eliminate this man.

Suddenly, the car door opened. A slender hand shoved a cloth directly into his mouth while striking him heavily on his Energy Sea Acupoint.

"MMPH... MMPH..."

Serene’s expression instantly twisted in agony. The veins all over his body bulged, his skin flushed red, and the white cloth in his mouth was quickly stained scarlet.

Elias Lennox said flatly, "Dawn, it’s better to cripple people like him sooner rather than later. Leaving him in the Martial World will only cause trouble."

On the screen, Alvin Morgan’s expression changed at the sudden appearance of Elias Lennox. He asked nervously, "Aurora, why is he..."

"Long time no see, Young Lord Morgan..."

Elias Lennox gave the man on the screen a brilliant smile.

The screen suddenly went black. Dawn Miles had directly terminated Ditto Miles’s connection with Alvin Morgan.

Her expression was vexed, and she seemed a little angry. "I will defeat him."

But Elias Lennox just smiled and shook his head. "Dawn, don’t be so naive. People like him will never give you a fair chance to defeat them. Believe me, the moment you let him go safely, a warrant for your arrest will appear all over the world. If Alvin Morgan is man enough, he’ll take on the Holy Mountain for you. The consequence of that... will be the destruction of the Morgan Family!"

Dawn Miles’s expression hardened. She glanced again at the man in the back seat, who seemed to have passed out, and her gaze darkened.

"Dawn, the people of the Martial World are far more ruthless than you can imagine. Do you know what the people above the Regulators are called?"

Dawn Miles shook her head.

"Makers."

Dawn Miles’s pupils constricted, and her fingers, resting at her side, suddenly clenched.

"In today’s Martial World, the so-called righteous rules are nothing more than constraints they place on Low Rank cultivators..."

「Two hours later—」

Elias Lennox watched, speechless, as Dawn Miles delivered the heavily injured Serene to Niphoria’s Martial Affairs Bureau.

"Dawn, you really are determined to learn things the hard way."

Dawn Miles pressed her lips together. "I just want to see if the Holy Mountain my master believes in has any real sense of justice."

Elias Lennox sighed softly and suddenly opened his arms. "If it doesn’t, The Shadow will welcome you anytime."

Dawn Miles sidestepped his arms and got back into the car.

「Meanwhile.」

Beta Morgan carefully pulled the car over to the side of the road and glanced at the man in the back seat through the rearview mirror.

His expression had been grim for a long time, his dark eyes fixed coldly on the laptop screen in his hands.

Strings of code danced across the screen.

Suddenly, the phone he had set beside him began to ring.

He glanced at the two words on the screen and, in a fit of irritation, threw the phone out the window.

Beta Morgan flinched and quickly opened the car door to retrieve the phone.

The name "Second Brother" was displayed on the screen.

He glanced at the man in the car, then walked a short distance away with the phone.

The moment he answered the call, an anxious male voice came through:

"Whitlock, Aurora took the Regulator to the Martial Affairs Bureau."
