Chapter 125: Talk Over Lunch
Chapter 125: Talk Over Lunch
Sylvia stared at the young boy that had black hair and black eyes in surprise.
’Is this... Seraph’s little brother?’
Soon, she heard sounds of movements in the building, and two adults appeared. They looked young, retaining their youthful beauty and handsomeness.
Seeing Sylvia, they were confused and alert for a moment, then Toma spoke.
"Uncle Skye, Auntie Skye! Hello."
Only when they had seen Toma and Lana did they smile and relax.
"Oh, you guys are here too. Come inside," Clem said warmly while his wife picked up their son.
The three stepped inside the house and sat at the dining while the parents began to lay dishes on the table.
"You guys came at the right time. Lunch just got ready," Kara smiled, placing down the last tray of dish, then sat down.
Clem also sat in his chair, looking at their visitors curiously. He locked his gaze on Sylvia and asked, "Young Miss, I haven’t seen you before. Could you introduce yourself?"
Sylvia nodded and said, "I’m Sylvia, a Core Disciple of the Soul Peak division of the Soul Cross Sect."
Instantly, the dining table fell silent, and they all stared at her in shock. Although none of them had ever set foot in a sect, they still understood terms like Outer Court, Inner Court, and Core Court.
If what Sylvia said was true, and she was a Core Court disciple, then...
"You’re really...." Clem stood up with his wife, ready to bow and give a proper greeting.
Sylvia hurried and stopped them with her spiritual energy, a panicked expression on her face.
"Uncle, Auntie, please don’t. I’m Seraph’s friend. I absolutely cannot accept that."
This further surprised Seraph’s parents, as they didn’t expect him to have made friends with a Core Court disciple.
’That boy is really flaunting his handsomeness around, uh? Tsk, tsk, tsk. If I wasn’t handsome, would he even be able to inherit such good genes?’ Clem thought as he sat down again, then he asked.
"This... what about Seraph? It has been many years since I have seen him. I hoped to see him during the beast tide, but he hasn’t shown up."
Sylvia nodded in understanding. Leon had left his family when he was eleven years old, and now, almost seven years had passed since then.
"Brother Seraph is doing fine," She smiled and answered. "It’s just that he’s been tied up with missions and cultivation that he hasn’t really been able to come visit. That’s why."
"Oh, I see," Kara nodded, though it was obvious that she was still disappointed.
Realizing this, Sylvia decided to add something else, "But... he told me he should be visiting soon, since he wants to see his little brother and his big sister."
As soon as she mentioned ’big sister’, the mood at the table turned somber. Sylvia tilted her head, confused.
"Is something wrong?" She asked, feeling discomfort from her ignorance.
Clem placed do his fork, then said solemnly, "My daughter, Yelena, has been missing past three years. I know nothing about her whereabouts or her wellbeing."
Sylvia’s eyes widened, and then she remembered something. When they had all sat together and discussed back in the sect, Ariana looked hesitant to share information about Yelena to him.
’She... is missing? How?’
"If Seraph were to hear about this, I have no doubt that he’ll rush over here immediately," Kara said with a sigh, looking genuinely tired.
"I see. I understand," Sylvia nodded, then asked. "In that case, what is this little guy’s name?"
Hearing this, Clem and Kara unconsciously smiled. Kara looked at her son and said, "His name is Jayde Skye."
Sylvia blinked in surprise, staring at the child with a smile.
’Wait. Is Seraph even their biological child? Everyone has black hair and eyes, but Seraph has white hair and rainbow eyes instead. A weird combination.’
Still smiling at Jayde, she took out a silver spirit crystal from her storage ring and passed it to the boy.
He gently caught it and began playing with it in his hands.
"Oh, thank you for that," Kara smiled at her, glancing at her son who was playing with something that valuable.
"It’s nothing, Auntie," Sylvia said with a smile, and they began eating.
While they ate, they exchanged light talks, most about Seraph and how he was doing in the sect. Sometimes, she’d also ask about his childhood experience, and his parents would answer her.
Suddenly, Toma spoke up, his gaze shining. "Um... Senior Sister, what position is Seraph in the sect?"
Hearing this, Sylvia paused. ’If he hadn’t mysteriously disappeared after the world, he should have been appointed as a Sect Elder by now.’
She sighed, then answered him. "Seraph... he’s now an Elder in the sect."
The whole table fell silent at her words, and they couldn’t help but doubt if she was actually telling the truth or just saying nonsense to surprise them.
"An elder? Like... sect elder?" Clem asked, his voice barely concealing the surprise he was feeling.
"Hm. Seraph is now an elder. I guess I made a mistake calling him by his name. He should be referred to as Elder Seraph," Sylvia said, clearing his doubt.
"How strong is he now? I know elders must be very strong?" Lana, who had been silent since, finally spoke.
Sylvia turned to her and smiled proudly, "Elder Seraph is already at the King, and I’m right behind him in becoming one too."
"Wait. Did you say King Stage?!"
Clem gasped in surprise, unable to believe his ears. How? How had Seraph become so powerful in just a few years?
He was puzzled, but then he remembered the seven-ci-aptitude of the boy.
’Could it be that?’ He wasn’t sure, but it sounded possible.
Else, what could explain his son’s absurd growth?
"Seraph must have become a celebrity over there, right? I wonder when he’ll bring home a wife," Kara sighed as she ate.
At her words, Sylvia stiffened and imma became self-conscious. She fidgeted in her seat, unable to form the proper word to answer the mother.
"That... Seraph actually has lots of friends. Female friends,"
Hearing this, Clem was intrigued, "Oh? What are they like?"
Sighing, Sylvia answered. "Um, there’s a pair of twins that are friends with him. One seems to be cold, but is actually very clingy. Then there’s another that is very expressive."
"Then, there’s Ariana and her friend, Tamar. This Tamar girl is reserved, but she’s quite intelligent too. She simply doesn’t like too much talk."
"Then there’s another one that just join us, but she seemed to have a special relationship with Seraph. Like friends made on the go. This is all I can think of."
Clem and Kara exchanged glances, their gazes solemn. In their minds, a single thought echoed.
’Those girls, including this Sylvia, will eventually fight for Seraph’s attention.’
They hadn’t even seen them before, but it felt like a fact. After all, they were adults and knew how the adult world operated.
Clem sighed, ’During my time, I was also flocked by hundreds of ladies, but I chose Kara. I made the right choice after all. Seraph, you have to make the right choice.’
Suddenly, he felt someone pinch his side, and he winced, "What was that for?"
"I know what you’re thinking about," Kara whispered back, then turned to Sylvia.
"I can see that he’s not having a boring life in the sect. I’m happy for him."
Sylvia smiled too, "Seraph is indeed very strong. He has been very popular recently."
Indeed, Seraph had lots of friends. Left and Right, Fang and Fellin, and others she didn’t remember.
’Yeah, my sister too.’
She frowned inwardly, feeling uneasy. She remembered how her sister had behaved when Seraph disappeared from the battlefield a month ago.
It was something she had never witnessed before, and she couldn’t help but doubt if the distressed woman was her sister.
’It can’t be that... she loves him?’
Her eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly composed herself so that Seraph’s parents wouldn’t notice anything unnatural.
They continued eating at the table, and before long, she was ready to leave.
The Skye family escorted her to their door.
"Thank you for visiting us and updating us about Seraph. We really appreciate it," Kara said to her with a warm smile, her eyes bright.
"Ah, it’s nothing, Auntie. Thanks for the hospitality too. I appreciate the meal," Sylvia replied, then took out a prepared gift box from her storage ring.
Taking a breath, she handed it over and said, "Uncle, Auntie. Here is a gift from me, your future daughter-in-law."
Clem and Kara froze at her declaration, then the woman hurriedly accepted the gift.
"This... are you in a relationship with my son?" Clem asked in surprise.
Smiling confidently, Sylvia answered, "Not yet. But I’m going to fight the battle and win Seraph’s heart for myself."
Her words made Kara smile, as it reminded her of her own youth. Then, she patted Sylvia’s shoulder and wished her good luck.
"Goodbye, Auntie, Uncle, and Jayde."
The family of three watched her leave, then Clem’s eyes widened.
"Wait. You wished her good luck. What about Ariana?!"
