Chapter 835 - 860: Unusual Circumstances (Part 2)
"Hmm." Koa Jackson looked at her, then glanced at Gideon Jackson who followed, and asked, "You just got back?"
"That’s right, I’m exhausted." Gideon said.
Koa glanced at him, "Then take a good rest for a while, it’s the weekend, anyway."
"Just about to take a nap." Gideon laughed heartily, and Lilian Jackson next to him softly said, "I heard you and Mia Ginger have gotten your marriage certificate, congratulations on finally tying the knot."
"Thank you." Koa nodded, showing the first smile since seeing the two of them, "I’ll head off then."
He naturally went to the hall to find Mia.
Lilian didn’t show a hint of dissatisfaction, nodded, and said, "Go ahead, that girl doesn’t often come here, she must be feeling bored."
Koa took steps towards the direction of the hall.
Gideon glanced at Lilian and finally breathed a sigh of relief, "It’s good you’ve come around."
Lilian curved her lips but said nothing and headed to her own room.
——
Koa accompanied Mia Ginger for a stroll around.
It soon reached the afternoon.
Mia saw a badminton racket in his study, got excited, and asked him to accompany her for a game of badminton downstairs.
Both of them were sweaty, and after showering, Mia put on clothes, furrowed her brows, and went to the study.
To fetch her backpack.
As it so happened, she got her period as soon as she got home.
And she only brought one pad.
After using it, she sat on the sofa in the study, conflicted whether to wait for Koa to finish his shower and then go out to buy more, or to ask Lilian or Lydia if they had any.
She hadn’t come to a decision when she heard the sound of high heels in the hallway.
Mia opened the door and saw it was Lilian Jackson.
Lilian also looked up and saw her, took a few quick steps and said with a smile, "I slept all afternoon and didn’t see you and Koa, so I brought you your gift."
As she spoke, she noticed Mia’s half-damp hair and even caught a whiff of fresh fragrance from her.
Her expression turned a bit odd, and she tentatively asked, "Just showered, huh? No wonder people talk about newlyweds having lots of ’exercise’ in the afternoons."
"Yeah, just finished playing badminton." As Mia spoke, she suddenly realized what Lilian implied, blushed, and retorted, "What are you talking about?"
"Just kidding." Lilian laughed and carried the items in her hand, heading to the study with her, and said, "I honestly didn’t know what to buy, but came across a couple’s watch while shopping, thought it’d be the perfect gift, now you’ll cherish every second together."
Mia pursed her lips and glanced at her, "You really spent too much."
"No, it’s nothing, it’s necessary." Lilian’s eyes squinted playfully.
Her demeanor was very warm and gentle, and Mia relaxed, suddenly asked, "Uh, Sister Lilian, do you have any of those...?"
"Which those?" Lilian was puzzled.
Mia chuckled awkwardly, "You know, my period started."
"Oh, I have some, do you need it now?"
"Yeah, I only brought one, thought it would be a few more days." Mia sighed.
Lilian pondered, "Is it very irregular or just slightly off? At your age, it should be regular, have you seen a doctor?"
Mia stared at her in surprise, "No need, right?"
It’s been irregular for years, never caused any issues.
Lilian pursed her lips disapprovingly, "This can be a small issue or a big one.
"..." Mia looked at her skeptically.
She never studied it, naturally oblivious to such things. Now getting closer with Koa, at least aware of the cycle, but due to its variability, it can’t be calculated.
Lilian’s assertive talk made her believe it instantly.
But—
Given she wasn’t that close to Lilian, maybe she exaggerated.
"You’re doubting my words?" Lilian smiled, "Did you forget I studied both Eastern and Western medicine?"
"You’re a doctor too?"
"Yes, had some issues recently, temporarily off work."
"Alright." Mia nodded, thoughtfully, "I’ll visit the hospital one day when I don’t have class."
"It’s better treated with traditional medicine or herbal medicine," Lilian advised her, "All medicines have some toxicity, less is more, especially with Western meds. Traditional medicine is more effective for body nourishment, find me when you have time, I know a few professors at the Fourth Hospital’s TCM Outpatient Department who can take a good look at you."
"Look at what?" A male voice suddenly cut in.
Koa Jackson stepped up to the two, glanced at Lilian, and asked indifferently, "Why are you here?"
And chatting so... happily with Mia?
These two never got along before, did not have a good relationship.
Koa’s face turned somewhat displeased.
Lilian was about to speak with a smile when Mia explained, "Sister Lilian brought us a gift, she came especially to deliver it."
