Ron King nodded.
Brother Ford took hold of Mia Ginger’s arm and headed out.
The rope around Mia’s legs had already been untied, and the rope around her hands was actually loose, though it still appeared to be tied. She didn’t ask Ford to help her take it off.
The sky was completely dark.
They were in a very large parking lot.
Mostly large trucks were parked there, along with some light vans, mostly abandoned.
Regardless, it looked shabby and rundown.
The streetlights were insufficient, and Mia discreetly observed for a while, roughly sensing the direction of the exit where the lights were brightest. The piercing sound of brakes and various noises echoed from afar.
"Brother Ford," Mia said dazedly, tilting her head, "I want some water."
"Weren’t we going to the bathroom?" Ford frowned, asking her patiently.
They were now in the middle of the lot, with the bathroom at the far corner. He intended to enjoy himself once they got there, hence his patience with Mia.
"My throat hurts, I just want some water!" Mia spoke stubbornly, tears of grievance streaming down.
It sounded like a complaint and a plea, yet oddly gratifying.
Ford glanced sideways and tugged her arm, leading her between two parked vehicles.
He pushed her against the side of one vehicle.
Lowering his head, he was about to bite her lips, gruffly saying, "Let me moisten them for you."
As his breath approached her face, Mia couldn’t bear it and turned her head, dodging his movements. As he raised his head in anger, she quickly clasped her hands on his shoulders and lifted her knee sharply against him.
This strike was delivered with all her strength, it was no small feat.
Ford screamed and staggered back, lifting his eyes to see Mia already sprinting away.
Ran?
Ford snapped back and hurried to pursue.
The pain was excruciating.
With his tall stature and long legs, he ran with a limp, gritting his teeth and shouted, "Uncle Ron!"
They hadn’t actually gotten far from the vehicles.
At his shout, Ron King dashed out frantically.
Chased alongside him.
Mia stumbled and sprinted ahead.
She looked around several times, realizing there was no one. It was almost nine o’clock, pitch dark, this dilapidated parking lot eerily quiet like a grave, a steel grave, surrounded by towering beasts.
She hadn’t eaten all afternoon, feeling dizzy, reeking of alcohol, her steps were unstable and tottering.
Yet—
At life’s brink, potential knows no bounds.
With two men pursuing from behind, she miraculously reached the lit area.
There were shadows of people.
Mia shouted immediately, "Help, murder!"
After yelling, she saw someone running towards her in a daze. It was Reece Lee.
It was him, back again.
Was he here to save her?
Mia found it unlikely; she couldn’t trust anyone now.
Perhaps Reece’s daughter really was in trouble.
He had sent his daughter to the hospital, then returned during this brief time, or maybe midway, his daughter turned out fine.
Mia sprinted rapidly towards the exit.
Reece grasped her arm. She bowed her head, biting his hand with all her might. At the moment he released her, she sprinted again.
Just as she ran, the glaring headlights of a car illuminated her face.
A black Bentley shot in from the entrance like an arrow, brushing past her. With a loud bang, it directly hit Reece behind her, sending him flying without stopping. A fierce swerve altered its direction, charging at the two men chasing her. Ford was also hit, soaring far away as the screeching brakes rang out. Ron King ran off in shock.
