Chapter 1215: Old Xie Is Getting More Controlling, No Wonder Mommy Left Him
Griffith Squire’s thoughts were something that Aurora Coldwell could not guess. She just felt a bit wronged and upset inside, fearing she would never meet someone she liked again.
Aurora Coldwell handed her most important possessions to Griffith Squire, glanced at his handsome and mischievous face, then silently returned to her bedroom.
Griffith Squire saw the little bunny listlessly returning, picked up the document bag in his hand, frowned, and called Cornelius Turner over to put the document bag in the safe.
The next morning, Griffith Squire got up for his usual jogging training, and when he came back after finishing a set of exercises and sat down for breakfast, he saw the old butler rushing over, saying, "Mr. Squire, I went to call Miss to have breakfast in the morning, but nobody answered. Would you like to go take a look?"
Griffith Squire frowned. Aurora Coldwell’s schedule was always very regular, going to bed and getting up early almost every day, so why hadn’t she gotten up yet?
He went upstairs silently to call out, called twice, but there was no response inside. Griffith Squire’s eyes darkened slightly. He turned the door handle, and upon opening it, found the spacious bedroom empty, the bed neatly made, Aurora’s usual instruments all put away, the girl’s bedroom clean and tidy, with only a sticky note left on the dressing table.
Griffith Squire picked up the sticky note, seeing it read: "Griffith Squire, Grandpa Butler, I’ve left Brocade City. I’ve always lived under someone else’s protection since I was little. I want to go out and live on my own for a while. I’ll call you once I settle down."
Griffith Squire’s face darkened. She was a young girl, born into wealth, raised in luxury, and after an unexpected change, she spent her days painting with virtually zero life experience. As beautiful as she is, she cannot speak; she doesn’t even know how dangerous the outside world is.
"Try calling," the man said, opening her wardrobe and drawers, finding many things she left untouched at home, suggesting she only took essential personal items with her when leaving.
"Phone is off," the old butler’s face turned pale, nearly breaking into tears, "Miss has lived such a sheltered life since coming of age, moving between two points, only painting and more painting, without understanding many basic life skills. What are we going to do?"
Griffith Squire strode outside, his face ashen, grabbing a walkie-talkie and asking, "Check the surveillance, and who was on duty from last night to this morning?"
Cornelius Turner quickly checked the surveillance and brought over the people who had been on duty, their faces pale.
"Around 10 o’clock last night, Miss Coldwell drove out, saying she was going to buy a gift for the boss’s upcoming birthday and told us not to inform the boss," the young man on duty almost fainted. She disappeared right under their noses, and they hadn’t noticed a thing. It was all over.
"Go and receive your punishment," Griffith Squire said grimly after viewing the footage, squinting towards Cornelius, "check her entry and exit records, investigate where the car is, and keep an eye on the Seymour Family, Coldwell Family, and Kingston Family for any anomalies."
Every car in the Coldwell Family has a GPS, and Aurora is not adept in these matters, so if she hasn’t ditched the car, she might still be within reach.
It’s been 12 hours, and anyone with some sense should’ve already left Brocade City’s boundaries.
Griffith Squire felt a headache coming on, growing more irritable. The little white rabbit they’d raised over two years was now out there, possibly facing all sorts of dangers. The man couldn’t sit still any longer.
A month ago, Richard Shaw went to Southeast Asia alone, asked Griffith Squire about Leah’s whereabouts and didn’t care whether or not someone helped him. Now that something happened to him, he could understand Richard Shaw’s anguish, comprehending his state of mind back then.
Leah could survive well anywhere, but Aurora not only lacked survival skills but also had a language barrier, marking the difference between a lion and a rabbit.
No wonder she suddenly handed over her shares and property last night; she had planned it all along. Once he finds her, Griffith promises to give her a good scolding.
Half an hour later, all kinds of bad news came pouring in. Aurora’s car was abandoned in a downtown parking lot, with no entry or exit records; she vanished from Brocade City just like that.
Imperial City, Shaw Mansion
"Major General, since yesterday, Griffith Squire has been mobilizing a lot of manpower in Brocade City to search, causing some unrest in the Southwest Region, seemingly because that Miss from the Coldwell Family disappeared." Shuangzi, who brought Casimir Shaw back from the Military District, brought a few non-urgent documents, quietly reporting.
Recently, the Major General has been visiting the Military Zone less often, bringing back some unimportant matters to handle, which made Shuangzi frequent Shaw Mansion more often.
Disappeared? Richard Shaw’s tea-colored eyes dimmed slightly, his cold and stern face showing little expression, just nodding lightly.
Richard Shaw had calmed completely during this time, settling his heart. It sure is a turbulent time; Leah left, and the young girl under Griffith Squire’s care also left, but Griffith is probably more anxious. At least he knows Leah will be living well somewhere.
"Spread the situation in Brocade City without revealing specific reasons, have the Southwest Military Zone create some minor hurdles for Griffith Squire, exaggerate conflicts if possible, let it spread." Richard Shaw thought for a moment and spoke indifferently.
Shuangzi’s eyes brightened, wondering why he hadn’t thought of it. If the Madam finds out there’s a conflict between the Southwest Military Zone and Griffith, such a big commotion will surely catch her attention. Once they contact Griffith, they’ll pick up some clues.
"Yes, Major General," Shuangzi responded swiftly.
Once Shuangzi left, the Shaw Mansion returned to its usual quiet. The man sat in the tea room, waiting for Casimir Shaw to come in with a backpack, routinely checking his homework.
Casimir was very excited today, his big black eyes shining bright, because his mommy called him, saying she’s on a sea voyage. Stopping temporarily at a port allowed her to call him. No wonder there’d been no news; there’s no signal out at sea, he knew.
"Old Shaw, I finished my homework at school," Casimir said, his big, black eyes shining, wondering if he should tell old Shaw his mommy called him.
The man quietly lowered his tea-colored deep eyes, his back straight, steadily checking his homework. After correcting an error, he remarked, "This question is wrong; you’ve been quite distracted lately."
The man looked at him slightly sternly, speaking softly, "Are you hiding something from me?"
Casimir shook his head vigorously, then wilted to correct the error, peeking at old Shaw while doing so. Old Shaw’s control was increasing; now even checking his homework. He’s grown up; shouldn’t military bigwigs be busier?
The young boy scratched his head, understanding why mommy wouldn’t want old Shaw. If he were mommy, he wouldn’t either; he couldn’t take such strict discipline.
